I will never complain about a boring staff meeting again.
I’d hoped we were done, after Alecto’s fit of hexing in the last one, but Septima insisted there was last minute business for the feast tonight and arrangements for tomorrow and Saturday. And apparently, no one had the energy to argue otherwise.
We’d gathered, and Septima was settling us down to business. (Minerva wasn’t there. Rabastan was, though not perhaps at his best.)
And then Alecto stood up, and announced that she’s leaving for good on Monday. (Apparently to Lincoln and her brother, but she was not very coherent.) That no one’s to disturb her before then or they’ll regret it entirely. And then a whole round of ranting and raving I shan’t repeat.
Septima - braver witch than I - inquired about her marking, and got a hex aimed at her for her trouble (went wide, and a good thing, too), before Alecto stumbled out. Apparently, she’s not bothered with marks all term, so on top of everything else, Septima’s got to figure that out.
Apparently took her entirely by surprise. Rolanda asked her after if she’d any idea this was coming. Septima said no, and that Minerva would have told her if she’d known, she was sure.
After that, we at least made short work of the rest of it, and I won’t bother you with the details of students needing remedial work over the summer or House business or the final infirmary reports. Or the final round of discipline for the high spirits of the past few days.
Poppy’s taken Aurora off now for tea and conversation (and, I suspect, to stop her volunteering to help Septima), but she might have more to add later.
